Changed Life

by Simon Whitton

16 Do not take your servant for a wicked woman; I have been praying here out of my great anguish and grief."
17 Eli answered, "Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked of him."
18 She said, "May your servant find favor in your eyes." Then she went her way and ate something, and her face was no longer downcast.
19 Early the next morning they arose and worshiped before the LORD and then went back to their home at Ramah. Elkanah lay with Hannah his wife, and the LORD remembered her.
20 So in the course of time Hannah conceived and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, saying, "Because I asked the LORD for him."

1 Samuel 1:16-20 (NIV)

Hannah had been childless and miserable year after year.  But then one day the Lord remembered her and answered her prayers.  Her life was changed, and even her whole outlook on life was never the same again.

It's within God's power to grant life changing requests, and He has a long history of doing just that.  He may answer your prayers right away; but more often God allows a period of time to go by before He intervenes.

When God does change your life, it can happen suddenly; in one day your life will never be the same again.  He may deliver you in an instant, or begin to set in motion a series of events that change the course of your life.

Jesus' ministry was, and still is, largely in the business of changing lives.  An unexpected encounter with Him and the sick were healed, the demon possessed delivered, the unrighteous made righteous, or a calling to go places or to do radical things not even dreamed of; all the result of one brief encounter.

Our God is the one who changes our course, and delights in changing lives.  He won't just change the circumstances of life, but like Hannah, He will even change your whole outlook on life; and you will forget your former misery.

6 "The LORD brings death and makes alive; he brings down to the grave and raises up.
7 The LORD sends poverty and wealth; he humbles and he exalts.
8 He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor. "For the foundations of the earth are the LORD's; upon them he has set the world.
9 He will guard the feet of his saints, but the wicked will be silenced in darkness. "It is not by strength that one prevails;"

1 Samuel 2:6-9 (NIV)

Is there something you have been praying for? Continue to pray, the Lord will remember you in His time.  Pray for a life-changing encounter with Him, that He might steer your life in a new direction, by His mighty power.
