About Us

Thank you for your interest in Spirit'sWord Daily Devotional.

The devotions are written by Simon Whitton.  Simon has been a Christian for 25 years, and graduated from King’s Bible College in Oxford, England (a private college, not part of Oxford University) with a diploma in Theology and Biblical Studies.

Simon and his wife Janine have been married for over 20 years, have four children and live in the United States.

Currently, there are 123 devotionals posted on the Spirit'sWord website - enough for four months of daily readings - which are looped three times a year.  The goal is to write 365 and then it is more likely to be considered a completed project.

Please let us know if you've been blessed by any of these devotionals.

If you have a website and would like to link to Spirit'sWord, you can use the banner at the top of this page.

This website was built and is maintained by Simon, please email him if you have any questions, comments, or notice any broken links or typos. Thank You.

Statement of Faith

A place to look for common ground and brotherhood.

Jesus was innocent, we are not.  Jesus the son of God was innocent, yet died on a cross to pay the price for our sins.  Those that believe this and confess this to God are part of Christ’s church, and we accept them as part of the fellowship of believers.

We can be further defined as believing the following:

1.  We believe:  The old and new testament scriptures are the fully inspired word of God, without error in their original inspiration and all they affirm.

2.  We believe:  The word of God has power and authority; it has the full endorsement of God, who is omnipotent.

3.  We believe:  In only one God, who exists eternally in three persons:  The Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

4.  We believe:  Other religions and beliefs are not alternative paths to God or heaven; but instead will lead to judgment by God, for Christ is the only way.

5.  We believe:  That our physical lives are brief, and that eventually every person will be judged by God.  The righteous will be rewarded with Heaven and the unrighteous condemned to Hell.   Only faith produces righteousness;  in addition faith produces ‘good works’ which will be rewarded in the next life.

6.  We believe:  We are called to be Holy and mature like Christ, to live lives that bring glory to God and are blameless before mankind.   We should be quick to acknowledge all failure and to confess our dependence on Christ’s sacrifice.

7.  We believe:  The Holy Spirit dwells in every believer, but baptism in the Holy Spirit is often a separate experience from becoming ‘born again’ through faith in Christ.

8.  We believe:  All of the ‘gifts of the Spirit’ were given to the church by God for the whole church age, for its common good.  We believe:  That these gifts should not cause division, but we should have equal concern for one another whether we believe the gifts are for today or not.

9.  We believe:  Satan was completely defeated by the shed blood and resurrection of Christ.  Despite this, God has granted Satan limited power for a short time, which he is using to continue his war against God, the church and all of creation.

10. We believe:  Becoming a Christian may not automatically or instantly free you from the demonic.  But freedom from unclean spirits can be obtained by exercising Christ’s authority as described in the scriptures.

11. We believe:  The Church is called to have compassion on the poor, marginalized, weak, and the sick; and should spread the gospel to all men.

12. We believe:  In the Apostle’s Creed, and affirm that it represents the historic belief of the Church of which we are a part.

The Apostle's Creed

We believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth;
And in Jesus Christ, His only son, Our Lord;
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
Born of the virgin Mary,
Suffered under Pontius Pilate,
Was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended into hell;
The third day HE rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven, sits at the right
Hand of God, the Father Almighty;
From thence He shall come to judge the
Living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
The holy universal church,
The forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body,
And life everlasting.
